Client Adviser Service

For clients who need some extra support

Who is the Client?

CDM 2015 defines a client as anyone for whom a construction project is carried out. The regulations apply to both domestic and commercial clients, and all construction projects no matter who they are carried out for.

Domestic Clients

If you are having work carried out which is not connected with running a business, i.e. at home, or for a family member, you are a Domestic Client. Therefore, some of the Client duties will transfer to other members of the project team.

Commercial Client

If you are an organisation or individual for whom a construction / refurbishment / maintenance project is carried out in connection with a business

What are the client duties?

CDM 2015 regulations place a greater prominence on the role of the client.  It is your responsibility to control the health and safety of those who might be affected by the project, and ensure that the project is suitably managed.  Your duties include notifying the HSE where necessary, appointing duty holders in writing and ensuring ‘suitable management’ arrangements are in place and provision of all relevant information prior to construction.

CDM 2015 holds criminally accountable for any breaches to regulations
